Abstract
The Hands-on Phonetics series is designed to serve as an introduction to both the field of acoustic phonetics and the acoustic analysis program Praat. Praat (the Dutch word for talk) is free analysis software that continues to be developed by Paul Boersma and David Weenink of the University of Amsterdam. By using our hands-on approach to Praat, a beginner can do powerful acoustical analyses using professional software while learning about acoustic phonetics. What makes the Hands-on Phonetics series unique is its flexibility. You select the units that meet your needs to acquire the level of expertise you desire.
