Abstract
Charlie Hero, cousin of Adela Hernandez Gonzmart, and his wife, Melba, discuss their relationship with the Gonzmart family. The interview begins with anecdotes from their travels with Cesar and Adela Gonzmart. There is a lengthy discussion of food, cooking, family holidays, and the Columbia's menu. The Heros, who were present when Cesar Gonzmart died, describe his death and that of his wife. Mrs. Hero shares recipes for Cuban coffee and spaghetti sauce. Mr. Hero describes some of his experiences in Germany during World War II. The interview concludes with the Heros describing how they got married, and how their daughter Lorrie came to work at the Columbia.
