This dataset contains measurements of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in muscle tissue of several fish species collected aboard the R/V Justo Sierra cruise in the Southern Gulf of Mexico around the Oil Platform Area from 2010-06-05 to 2010-06-10. Sixteen species of fish were caught in Campeche Bay (Southwestern Gulf of Mexico), and the total concentration of PAHs in muscle tissue was analyzed with an Agilent gas chromatograph-mass spectrometer (GC-MS) 6890N / 5973MS after PAH was extracted from tissue with a 1:1. hexane:methylene chloride solvent. This effort was undertaken to monitor the levels of PAH in fish as part of the PEMEX survey. The dataset contains the date and location of sample collection, species of fish, and total PAH concentration.

These data were collected as part of PEMEX (Petróleos Mexicanos) surveys to monitor the levels of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) in fish.
