The Stewart-Isom Memorial Christian Methodist Episcopal Church started in 1911 as Stewart's Chapel CME at Eighth Street and Lincoln Court S. in St. Petersburg. It moved to a building at Union Street and 9th Avenue S. in 1930 and changed the name to Steward Memorial CME Church. In 1985, they moved to their current location at 1820 Walton Street S. and became Stewart-Isom Memorial CME. The "Isom" in the name comes from Bishop Dotcy Isom's father.
