Note

Olive B. McLin taught English and literature for over 40 years in the Pinellas County Schools system. She founded the St. Cecelia Choir which was the first choir group at Gibbs High School. She also served as president of the Metropolitan Council of the National Council of Negro Women and was a founder of the Greater St. Petersburg Council on Human Relations. The theater at Gibbs High School is named after her.

Frederick "Fred" D. Burney, was the founding principal of the 16th Street Junior High School and Perkins Elementary. Governor Reubin Askew appointed Burney to the 2nd District Court of Appeal Judicial Nominating Commission which he served on from 1978 to 1982. He was a founding member of the Ambassadors Club and the Phi Beta Sigma fraternity, as well as being a member of Phi Beta Kappa and the Southside Optimist Club.
