Abstract
President Carter used this small desk as part of his home office in Plains, Georgia, and made it himself. It is a simple walnut writing desk with a slide-out wing. The piece was recorded as part of a 3D documentation and archival program undertaken by the Digital Heritage and Humanities Collections in the University of South Florida Libraries and is in collaboration with the Carter Family, the National Park Service, and the Friends of the Jimmy Carter Historical Park. The piece was documented using structured light scanning with external sensor imaging.

A three-dimensional model of a simple, rectangular, wooden desk with an attached, sliding wing on its left side. The wood is stained to a medium-dark brown color and the desk features simple wood aprons between each of the four thin legs to provide the tabletop with extra support. Ten annotations have been added to the model, which the viewer can click on to provide additional information. The model can be rotated, moved, and zoomed in and out to allow for viewing of additional details at multiple angles.
