Blockhouse at Launch Complex 18 - Mesh
Abstract
The blockhouse at LC 18 was built in 1957 to serve as the launch control station for both Pad A and Pad B. The original blockhouse with a V-shaped east side is nearly identical to those at LC 5/6 and LC 26, which were constructed in 1955-1956. Several modifications to the LC 18 blockhouse were made circa 1958. These additions, including earthen terrain used as hardened structural protection, transformed the blockhouse into one unlike any other at Cape Canaveral. The Electrical Switch Station structure is adjacent to the blockhouse, Facility 24448.
