Abstract
The Studio@620 welcomes the Pinellas County Center for the Arts and Gibbs High School as they present "Long Days Journey Into Night" by Eugene O'Neill. The play, which won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama as well as the Tony Award for Best Play, tells the story of the Tyrone family over the course of one day as they confront their own and each others personal demons, particularly the re-occurrence of matriarch Mary Tyrone's addiction to morphine. Come watch and support this very unique venture wherein a teacher of theatre (Keven Renken, the chairman of the theatre department at the Pinellas County Center for the Arts (PCCA) at Gibbs High School) is acting in a production with his students (the actors playing the sons and the actress playing the maid are all students of Renken's at PCCA) - the hope being that if they learn by academic contact in the classroom, they will learn even more about their art by getting up on their feet and doing it with their teacher.
