Abstract
Ron Bobb-Semple performs “The Spirit of Marcus Garvey” at The Studio on February 12-13 and there will be a film screening of “Harlem in Montmartre” and a discussion with the film’s Executive Producer Charles Hobson held at the Museum of Fine Arts on February 15, 2013. The Spirit of Marcus Garvey Doors open at 7 PM, Performance at 7:30 PM at The Studio@620, Feb. 12-13, All seats $15. This performance is not to be missed as Ron truly brings the spirit of Jamaican Activist Marcus Garvey to life. For Black History Month 2001, Bobb-Semple was the voice of Garvey in the PBS Special Film, “Marcus Garvey: Look For Me In The Whirlwind.” Harlem in Montmartre Reception at 6:30 PM, Film Screening at 7:00 PM at The Museum of Fine Arts, Feb. 15, All seats $10 Harlem in Montmartre tells the story of the musicians who left America to create the jazz age in Paris between the First and Second World Wars. This remarkable performance- driven documentary features the stories and music of such key figures as Josephine Baker, Sidney Bechet, Django Reinhardt and more.
