Abstract
The Studio@620 invites you to "Sacred Forests of India: Conservation Traditions," a photography exhibit with film screening and lecture presentation by Alison Ormsby. This show highlights the history of sacred groves in two states of India, Meghalaya and Karnataka. Sacred forests or groves hold cultural and spiritual significance for the people who live near them. Grove conservation reflects people's respect for the god believed to reside in the forest. Alison Ormsby is an Associate Professor of Environmental Studies at Eckerd College and was a Fullbright-Nehru scholar in India from October 2009 to May 2010.
