Abstract
The Studio@620 welcomes Purnama Sari Balinese Dance Company as they present sacred dances from "The Island of the Gods: on Friday, May 6 at 7:30 PM. The performance will include a classic court dance, ritual dances, and ancient mask dances. For the Balinese, dance is a medium for traveling between "Sekela" (the world of form) and "Niskala" (the world of spirits). The founders of Purnama Sari ("essence of full moon"), Surapsari and Indra, studied traditional Balinese dance with internationally acclaimed masters from Ubud, the arts capital of Bali and have been performing and teaching in the U.S. since 2000.
