These images were donated by the Audubon Everglades Science Center in Tavernier, Florida. The entire collection of field notes, official reports, research documents, computer disks, data sheets, correspondence, publications, pamphlets, studies, and photographs are housed within the Special Collections Department of the University of South Florida Libraries, Tampa campus. As the content continues to be digitized, images will be added to this online collection.
The images reflect the focus of Audubon’s work in research and conservation efforts to preserve wildlife and its habitat. Images include photographs and illustrations of hammocks, rookeries, birds, reptiles, wardens, conservationists, wetlands, and estuaries. The varied images represent decades of research and are a testament to the diversity of Florida species and their fragile, threatened environment.
