Author Biography

Sophie Coulombeau is Senior Lecturer in English Literature and Creative Writing at the University of York, and Co-Investigator on the large research project Unlocking The Mary Hamilton Papers, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council. Her most recent publication is Reading with the Burneys: Patronage, Paratext, and Performance (Cambridge University Press, 2024), and she is co-editor of a special issue of the Journal for Eighteenth-Century Studies called 'Mary Hamilton and her Networks: Gender, Sociability, Manuscript, c. 1740 – c. 1850’ (48:4, December 2025). She is General Editor of the Burney Journal.
