Abstract
A lesson plan for high school social studies classrooms that explores the legacy and erasure of historically Black cemeteries in Florida through the case of Zion Cemetery. Students watch a 60 Minutes documentary, engage in structured discussion, and develop a group preservation project plan focused on community awareness and historical memory. The lesson highlights the impact of segregation, systemic neglect, and redevelopment on sacred burial grounds and encourages civic participation in local preservation efforts.
