Abstract
This is an oral history interview with Armando Lopez, a longtime resident of Ybor City. Lopez was born in Cuba in 1904 and came to Tampa in 1922 when he was seventeen years old. He learned how to make cigars while still in Cuba, then worked at several factories in Tampa. Lopez describes the cigar factories, including the custom of the lector, or reader.
