As our technological advancements expand, so does our knowledge of the universe beyond Earth. And as technology becomes increasingly more accessible, more countries are becoming involved in space exploration and research. Germany, in particular, is a global leader in technological innovation and engineering—does this still apply to the field of space in particular? How much of recent innovation in space research has Germany been involved in? To answer this question, this study examined Germany’s contributions to the European Space Agency’s efforts in space research and exploration. Information was sourced from the European Space Agency’s recent projects. The study observed these projects under a large lens of the ESA’s efforts overall, then compared that large view with a more precise look at what Germany has individually contributed, considering time, money, and Germany-specific endeavors.
