The healthcare landscape has evolved significantly over time, placing greater emphasis on patient-centered care as a fundamental component of effective healthcare delivery. High levels of patient satisfaction contribute to improved perceptions of care, stronger trust in physicians, better treatment compliance, reduced errors, greater staff satisfaction, and ultimately improved clinical outcomes and provider profitability. While factors such as hospital environment and sanitation remain essential in shaping these outcomes.1 The purpose of this study is to examine patient satisfaction regarding ‘accommodations’ in their hospital room. A quantitative, causal-comparative design was used to identify differences across groups. A Multi Variate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) was conducted to determine whether patient satisfaction differed across clinical units. One way Analysis of variance contrasts were conducted on each dependent variable. The independent variables were the clinical unit of admission and associated diagnosis. The dependent variables were the patient responses to accommodation-related items: 1) room cleanliness; 2) room comfort; 3) bathroom cleanliness; and 4) room noise level. There were statistically significant findings as evidenced by Wilk’s Λ (30, 2314) = 0.68 (p<0.0001). One way ANOVA contrasts identified one statistically significant criterion. For the criterion ‘noise level in the room was acceptable’ most patient’s (87%) agreed their rooms were quiet (p<0.0001). In today’s healthcare arena, patient satisfaction and engagement are vital for positive outcomes and provider success, while high-quality personalized care builds trust, improves well-being, and strengthens healthcare organizations’ market presence. Addressing unit-specific environmental practices enhances the patient experience and supports improved quality outcomes for hospitalized patients.2
