The purpose of this research is to examine different forms of media to determine whether the ecofeminist idea of women being linked to nature is true or not.This is an ecofeminist idea because ecofeminists espouse an ideology that explicitly links women/femininity and nature, either through a biological or social construction. The hypothesis is that women are linked with nature in different forms of media. Television and movies were watched and graded on a scale that consisted of the Bechdel test and environmental grading scale of the researchers' design. The Bechdel test is a pre-developed test to measure the presence of women in media. The data that has been collected so far shows no direct correlation between the passing of the Bechdel test and a high score on the environmental grading scale, as media that fails the Bechdel test can score highly. However, more data overall passes than fails the Bechdel test, so this cannot be conclusively said. From this data, it can be extrapolated that there is not always an association between women and nature. Future research will need to be done in order to collect more data to definitively prove or disprove the hypothesis.
