Note
The Orange Belt Railway was started in 1885 as a narrow gauge railroad by Peter Demens, a Russian exile who would go on to co-found St. Petersburg, Florida. It was reorganized as the Sanford & St. Petersburg Railroad in 1893 and in 1895, it was purchased by Henry B. Plant who converted it to standard gauge. In 1902, the Plant System became part of the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad.
