Minor adjustments were made to the MusicXML file to ensure proper playback. The edits below were made to improve functionality while preserving the musical content.
The Dance of the Cinders
-
Where there are blanks, rests were added to maintain the alignment of the chords.
- In measures 5, 9, 11, 13, 15, 16, 17, and 19, the second and fourth quarter notes on the bottom line were changed to 8th notes to match the time signature.
- In measure 6, the 16th notes in the bottom line were changed to 32nd notes to match the top line and maintain alignment
- In measure 8, a 32nd note was added and tied to the previous note to resolve a rhythmic discrepancy.
- In measure 9, the third note in the top line was omitted due to a possible strike-through in the manuscript. It also does not fit in the measure.
- In measure 10, the dot was removed from the last beat's note in the top and bottom lines to fit the time signature.
- In measure 12, a dot was added to the last beat of the bottom-line note to match the time signature.
- In measure 14, the last two notes in the top line were changed to 16th notes, as was the pattern at the start of the measure, to fit the time signature.
- In measure 18, the first quarter on the bottom and top lines was changed to an 8th, and the dot was removed from the last quarter on the bottom line to fit the time signature.
- In measure 20, the dot was removed from the last note in the top line to fit the time signature.
- Measure 36's time sig. was changed to 1/4 to maintain barline.
- In measure 45, the time signature. was changed to 12/8 to maintain the barline, and the last note was interpreted as an 8th to fit in the measure.
- Measures 52-53 rhythm in the top line is a guess, as note values are unclear.
- In measure 56, the last 8th note was changed to a quarter note to fit the time signature.
Lullaby
- Unclear if Helps meant the piece to be in A or Ab major. Since the Ab key signature was crossed out, I interpreted it as A major.
- In measure 17, the time signature. was changed to 4/4.
- In measures 32-33 & 37-40, time sig. changed to 8/8 to maintain barline.
- In measure 34, the time signature. was changed to 3/8 to match note values.
- After measure 34, there are no more barlines, so the time signatures have been adjusted to ensure the audio plays smoothly.
- In measure 36, the time signature. was changed to 9/8 to match note values.
- In measure 40, the time signature. was changed to 4/8 to match note values.
