Author Biography
Dr. Michael Hampson teaches at Forsyth Technical Community College as an instructor of Political Science in the Social and Behavioral Sciences Department. He received his doctorate in Political Science from the University of California, Irvine, in 2013, focusing on the bridge between International Relations and Political Theory. Dr. Hampson’s doctoral dissertation was on the Lord’s Resistance Army and the violent groups in the Great Lakes region of Africa. His research in that region focuses on the use of extreme forms of violence as a political tool for governance. He currently focuses on the political use of violence by non-state groups around the world and how levels of governance affect the use of violence.
