Author Biography

Richard W. Maass is Associate Professor of Political Science at Old Dominion University. He is the author of The Picky Eagle: How Democracy and Xenophobia Limited U.S. Territorial Expansion (Cornell University Press, 2020) and editor of The United States and International Law: Paradoxes of Support across Contemporary Issues (University of Michigan Press, 2022). He has also published research in Texas National Security Review, Terrorism and Political Violence, Diplomatic History, International Studies Perspectives, and Historical Methods. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Notre Dame.
