Author Biography
Dr. Michael Hampson teaches at the College of Southern Nevada as an adjunct professor in the Social Sciences Department. He received his doctorate in Political Science from the University of California Irvine in 2013, focusing on the bridge between International Relations and Political Theory. Dr. Hampson has primarily studied the Lord’s Resistance Army and the violent groups in the Great Lakes region of Africa. His research in that region focuses on the use of extreme forms of violence as a political tool for governance. He currently focuses most of his studies on the political use of violence by non-state groups around the world, and how levels of governance affect the usage of violence.
