Author Biography
Dr. Deborah Sibila is an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice at Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi. She earned her Ph.D. in criminal justice from Sam Houston State University (SHSU) in 2016. Prior to starting her academic career, Dr. Sibila was employed for 22 years as a federal law enforcement agent with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. She retired from DEA as a Supervisory Special Agent in July 2009. Dr. Sibila also served four years active duty as a Military Police Officer in the U.S. Army. Dr Sibila’s research interests include policing, drug policy, and immigrant and gender offending/victimization related issues. She is a member of the Institute for Predictive Analytics in Criminal Justice (IPAC), a research initiative of the Texas A&M University System at Tarleton State University. IPAC’s primary mission is to advance research in criminal justice through the analysis of data with the goal of developing and implementing evidence-based-policy and practices.
