Welcome to the JEA

The Journal of Ecological Anthropology (JEA), is a double-blind peer-reviewed interdisciplinary forum for innovative exploration of the interface between humans and their sociocultural and biophysical environments. Subject areas include, but are not limited to, historical ecology, anthropology of development and conservation, ethnobiology and indigenous knowledge, ecology of health and nutrition, anthropology of food and agriculture, political ecology, multi-species relations, nature and society, economic anthropology, resources management, socio-ecological systems, paleoecology, complex systems, primate socioecology, and information ecology.

We especially encourage article submissions that seek to create new syntheses between fields of study, as well as to explore paradigms not currently supported by other journals. Research papers, book reviews, and other innovative formats like Data Notes, Field Notes and Crib Notes provide authors a range of opportunities to publish their work. Contributors are encouraged to be creative with regard to use of graphic representations, such as tables, charts, models and pictures. The journal is indexed by Anthropological Literature, ProQuest, Abstracts in Anthropology, Sociological Abstracts, Social Services Abstracts, Worldwide Political Science Abstracts, and Linguistics and Language Behavior Abstracts.

The Journal of Ecological Anthropology is published with support from the University of South Florida Libraries and the University of South Florida Department of Anthropology and without profit. As a service to the research community, the USF Tampa Library’s commitment to true open access to scholarly information extends to authors. This means that there are no article or submission charges for Journal of Ecological Anthropology. Content is archived in the Digital Commons Private LOCKSS Network and Portico, and backed up in the bepress Digital Commons system.
