General Submission Rules

Submitted articles cannot have been previously published, nor be forthcoming in an archival journal or book (print or electronic). Please note: "publication" in a working-paper series does not constitute prior publication. Manuscripts may have been deposited on a preprint server. Manuscripts that are derived from papers presented at conferences can be submitted unless they have been published as part of the conference proceedings in a peer-reviewed journal.

In addition, by submitting material to Studia UBB Geologia, the author is stipulating that the material is not currently under review at another journal (electronic or print) and that he or she will not submit the material to another journal (electronic or print) until the completion of the editorial decision process at Studia UBB Geologia. If you have concerns about the submission terms for Studia UBB Geologia, please contact the editors.

Authors are required to ensure that no material submitted as part of a manuscript infringes existing copyrights, or the rights of a third party. Manuscripts must be submitted by one of the authors of the manuscript, and should not be submitted by anyone on their behalf. The submitting author takes responsibility for the article during submission and peer review. The authors must agree to the Article Submission Agreement and the Copyright Agreement as part of the submission process. Submission of a manuscript to Studia UBB Geologia implies that all authors have read and agreed to its content.

Studia UBB Geologia follows the rules of the Commission of New Minerals and Mineral Names of the International Mineralogical Association in all matters concerning mineral names and nomenclature.

Studia UBB Geologia does not charge article processing or submission fees. After publication, authors have the right to post pre-print, post-print, or publisher versions of their article online, including on their personal, departmental, or institutional repository pages.

Plagiarism Detection

Studia UBB Geologia uses TurnItIn through the University of South Florida as a plagiarism screening service that verifies the originality of content submitted before publication. Each manuscript newly submitted to Studia UBB Geologia will be checked. TurnItIn provides the editors with a similarity report listing (a) the percentage of similarity resulting from counted words and (b) the markup of the various sections, expressions, or terms which were found in other documents. The editors check the report and decide whether a manuscript should be rejected because of fraud or proceed to the peer-review process. The similarity report is made available to reviewers for examination as part of their evaluation.
