Abstract

During the tenure of Tampa Mayor Sandy Freedman (1986-1995), Susan Swift served as Manager of Development Coordination and later as Deputy Director of Housing and Development. The interview begins with a discussion of Ms. Swift's education and the start of her work for the city of Tampa in 1984. Ms. Swift also discusses city zoning issues, short-range planning issues, and the mayor's Downtown Development Authority and Blue Ribbon Committee. She also discusses eminent domain and DRI's (Development of Regional Impact). The interview ends with Ms. Swift discussing her current (2006) work for the city of Leesburg, Virginia.
