Wondering how to motivate your students all semester long or how to help them grasp a difficult concept? Powerful visuals can engage students to dive into course content and enhance the learning process through creative cognition. The use of images provides a mental anchor point for concepts, content and knowledge that increase retention and recall. This session will provide a brief background on the cognitive science of how visuals work when it comes to learning and retention. We will explore real examples of how visuals have been used in a variety of courses, and at different levels of adoption. The application of visuals as a creative tool for effective teaching and learning will be discussed as well as some tips to incorporate visuals in your own courses immediately.
