Abstract
In their St. Petersburg debut, Shoes At The Door Dance presents their first evening length work “Ignorance is Bliss?” on January 28-29, 2012 at The Studio@620. "Ignorance is Bliss?" explores the choice we face between isolation and engagement. Blind spots develop when we insulate ourselves from things we deem inappropriate to see, hear or speak of. Throughout the work, intersections force detours and spark improvisation. Using movement, gesture, partnering and text, the dancers maneuver to find a balancing point between avoidance and interaction.
