Abstract
In a pre-industrial, God-fearing nowhere land, a young woman is given a language for her heart—freeing and exposing her. The Studio@620 presents "Knives in Hens" by David Harrower, directed by Samuel French, January 3-4, 2011 at 8:00 PM. In "Knives in Hens", an uneducated young woman, trapped by marriage in a closed and superstitious community, develops an intense relationship with the village outcast. Sensuality and poetic language combine to make this a seductive tale of solitude, sexuality and intellectual awakening. Samuel French (director) is a freshman directing major at Carnegie Mellon University and a graduate of the Pinellas County Center for the Arts (’10).
