Author Biography

Scott Krawczyk has held teaching and leadership positions at West Point, the National Endowment for the Humanities, Long Island University, and Georgetown University, where he continues to teach part-time. He is the author of Romantic Literary Families (Palgrave Macmillan, 2009) and contributed to Anna Letitia Barbauld: New Perspectives (Bucknell UP, 2014). He is currently co-editing Volume IV (Essays and Political Discourses) of The Collected Works of Anna Letitia Barbauld, forthcoming from Oxford University Press. William McCarthy is Professor Emeritus from Iowa State University, the author of Anna Letitia Barbauld, Voice of the Enlightenment (Johns Hopkins 2008), and coeditor of the first complete edition of Barbauld’s poems (1994) and a collection of her prose and verse (2001). He is serving as General Editor of The Collected Works of Anna Letitia Barbauld and has edited Volume I, The Poems, Revised (Oxford UP, 2019).

Abstract

This short discovery article presents information pertaining to a previously unknown poem of four lines by Anna Letitia Barbauld. The poem is housed at Duke University in the David M. Rubenstein Rare Book & Manuscript Library.
