Abstract
Roby MacDougall fits the definition of 'an original.' His technique is his own. He has invented, explored, evolved-and devolved-his process of expression. This path is one taken only by the bold. While rendering his subjects cleanly, with the confident hand of a skilled draftman, he presents them to us in an often complex, deeply layered environment. Simple elements punctuate the greater story being told. In contrasting classic and contemporary expression, his work can invoke an arresting response to unfolding visual tension.
