Abstract
This work describes the behaviour of the Merlin Falco columbarius in downtown Caracas throughout the months of winter migration (October–April) between 1999–2019, with some notes about its interactions with other bird species and diet. Along those years, 346 sightings were recorded, 259 from solitary individuals. Merlins interacted with 10 bird species in 33 occasions, in an aggressive (27) or neutral (6) way. It hunts and feeds on Ruddy Ground-Dove Columbina talpacoti and a butterfl y species Ascalapha odorata.
