Abstract

On October 26, 2019 two warblers from the Setophaga genus were recorded in La Vela de Coro, Falcon State, northwestern Venezuela. These individuals were originally reported online as Blackburnian Warbler Setophaga fusca, the best match available in Venezuelan fi eld guides. That record included an undistinguished photo image. But an exhaustive review noted that the image in the photograph perhaps belonged to another Warbler: S. dominica. A bird watching group moved to the original locality in order to harbor more evidence. Seven additional records were obtained, as well as photo evidence of the presence of S. dominica in Venezuela. These records are the fi rst ones for the country, and the second ones for mainland South America.
