Abstract
The Rufous-breasted Hermit is a common hummingbird inhabiting lowland forests across the Neotropics. In Venezuela, there are very few records of the species in the central llanos. On November 2017, we captured one individual within Fundo Pecuario Masaguaral in the western portion of Guárico state, where the species was not previously reported. In order to update the distribution of the Rufousbreasted Hermit on the Venezuelan llanos, we reviewed the species records on museums and online databases. Additional to our record in Guárico state, we found 20 records of the species in Apure, Barinas, Cojedes and Portuguesa states; and even one previous record of the species in northeastern Guárico state, which has been unnoticed until now and and was not included in bird publications and lists. Most of the records (82%), manly museum ones, were from the period between 1929 and 2003, and the other ones were recorded between 2013 and 2017.
