Abstract

The Kelp Gull is a seabird that typically inhabits the austral areas of the world. Here we present the first record of the Kelp Gull in Venezuela with photographic evidence. The species was recorded four times the Península de Paraguaná, Falcón state, northern Venezuela. A total of 10 individuals were documented between June 24 to July 18, 2021. Nine of them had adult plumage and only one showed a third-winter plumage stage. This record represents the fourth species of Larus for Venezuela.
