The Western Bluebird (Sialia mexicana occidentalis) ao seldom breeds in low country of the San Diegan region that a fledgling of the species picked up in a lot near the State Normal School, Los Angeles, constitutes a surprise worth recording. The bird was scarcely able to fly, and could not have traveled far from its parental nesting site. The date was May 31, 1915.
