Abstract
This club served the immigrants who came from Asturias in northeastern Spain. The walls are recessed in the thickness of the two-story high Tuscan columns which "support" the enormous entablature/balustrade crown. For balance there are plastered corner piers. The temple-form is raised on a high ground-level story. The spandrels have ornamental panels and the windows are vertically united by the reveals molding which hugs the columns and emphasizes the arches of the upper-story windows. It was typical of the (Neo-) Classical (Revival) buildings of the turn of the century to employ massive, balustraded cornices, but the round-headed windows are more in keeping with the Renaissance Revival at that time. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Title supplied by cataloger. Description supplied by Sape A. Zylstra.
