Abstract
Bill deformities in wild birds are rare with a frequency estimated to be less than 0.5%. Two groups, Icterids (blackbirds) and Mimids (catbird, mockingbird and thrashers), seem to have a higher rate of deformed bills than other families. It is interisting that, in my banding experience, these two groups also exhibit more tumors and lesions as well.
