Abstract
In areas of overlap, hybridization occurs between Red-naped and Red-breasted Sapsuckers. The distribution of hybrid offspring away from the hybrid zones is poorly known. These hybrids could be expected to occur throughout the winter range of either parental type. Two probable Red-naped X Red-breasted Sapsuckers from Texas have been found in the Trans-Pecos and are described here. Details of the first state record for Red-breasted Sapsucker are also examined.
