Abstract
The Piping Plover (Charadrius melodus) is a threatened/endangered species that winters along the Texas coast. In 1991 the Great Lakes/ Northern Great Plains Piping Plover Recovery Team coordinated an international survey of the species throughout both its wintering the breeding ranges. This paper presents the findings of the census conducted in Texas, as well as the results of surveys by the author at three selected sites on the upper Texas coast.
