Abstract
Selected sedimentation ponds in the Texas Municipal Power Agency Gibbons Creek Lignite Mine at Carlos, Grimes County, Texas were censused at least once weekly for two years to assess waterbird and raptor utilization of the ponds. The 48,541 individuals counted were strongly dominated by the ducks and geese with secondary dominance by herons and bitterns and cormorants. One endangered, two threatened and two peripheral or rare species were observed in some numbers.
