Note
The area we now know as St. Petersburg was originally stewarded by the Tocobaga people until the Spanish invaded the Tampa Bay area between 1528 and 1539 with expeditions led by Pánfilo de Narváez and Hernando de Soto. Over a dozen mounds or middens were found around Booker Creek, Bayboro Harbor, and Mound Park Hospital. The majority have been destroyed by development, although a few remain. They are Pinellas Point Temple Mound Park, Abercrombie Park, Jungle Prada de Narvaez Park, and Maximo Park. The latitude and longitude are for the Temple Mound Park location.
