Description
Several recent discoveries have changed our view of the global nitrogen cycle. New processes and new organisms have been identified that challenge Century-old paradigms about essential N cycle processes. During my presentation I will introduce ammonia-oxidizing archaea as well as comammox. I will highlight some of the initial insights we have gained into the biology of ammonia-oxidizing archaea, a fascinating and ubiquitous group of archaea. I will summarize my presentation with the new avenues of research that we are currently pursuing.
