Abstract
recto: Alternating blue and red flourished initials. Full-page foliate border comprised of red, blue, and maroon acanthus leaves and floral spray with gold leaf. Historiated initial C featuring St. Lawrence wearing a red robe, tonsured, and holding a quill pen in one hand while the other hand rests on a gridiron. The initial is surrounded with acanthus leaves and gold leaf. verso: Alternating blue and red flourished initials.

Text in Latin. Original image found in: Sacred leaves litury & devotion: manuscripts from England to Ethiopia. Text identification: recto: End of oratio for the August 9 Vigil of St. Lawrence, Martyr (et intercessione beati Laurentii) followed by a reading from Ecclesiastics 51. Psalm 111:9-10 for the gradual, Matthew 16:24 for the Evangelii (or gospel), Job 16:20 for the offertory. The secret (Hostias quas tibi) followed by Matthew 16:24 for the communion. The post-communion (Da quaesumus Domine Deus noster) precedes the introit for the August 10 feast of St. Lawrence which begins with Psalm 95:1, followed by the oratio (Da nobis q[uaesumu]s omnipotens) and concluding with a reading from 2 Corinthians reading. Psalm 16:3 for the gradual, John 12:24 for the gospel, Psalm 95 for the offertory. The secret (Accipe q[uaesumu]s D[omi]ne) is followed by John 12:26 for the communion. The post-communion (Sacro mune[re] satiati) is followed by the oratio for the August 11 feast of Saints Tiburtius and Susanna (Tiburtii et Susan[na]e nos D[omi]ne). The secret (Adesto D[omi]ne p[re]cib[us] p[o]p[u]li) and post-communion )Sumpsimus D0omi]ne pign[us]) conclude the feast. The verso ends with the start of the oratio for the August 13 feast of Sts. Hippolytus and Cassian. Items in this collection are only available online; we do not have physical copies of these items in the USF Library's Special Collections.
