Abstract
Multiple bar graphs depicting chemical characteristics (pH, interstitial ammonium and interstitial sulfide) of sediments associated with the Miskito Cays seagrass transect done by Dr. John C. Ogden and his colleagues during their research expedition to Miskito Bank, Nicaragua aboard the R/V [Research Vessel] Alpha Helix from October 13, 1977 to November 18, 1977. A transect is an ecological research method used to describe the organisms found in an area. There are fifteen individual bar graphs arranged into a three by five grid. The shift from left to right represents a change from the lagoon environment to the continental shelf. Each graph is marked as depicting sediment samples from one of the research transect stations MT-1 through MT-5. The map (https://digital.lib.usf.edu/SFS0070396/00001/1j) in the "Cruise Narrative and Log" section of the Miskito Bank Expedition, Nicaragua binder of the Dr. John Ogden Florida and Caribbean Reef Collection shows the exact locations of the research transect stations MT-1 through MT-5 at the Miskito Cays, Nicaragua. The top five bar graphs show pH on the x-axis and sediment depth (in centimeters) on the y axis. The middle five bar graphs show interstitial ammonium on the x-axis and sediment depth (in centimeters) on the y axis. The bottom five bar graphs show interstitial sulfide on the x-axis and sediment depth (in centimeters) on the y axis.
