Abstract
Photograph of a SCUBA diver interacting with an oxygen tank drop site, where five oxygen tanks are tethered to a metal frame in the Salt River submarine canyon, St. Croix, U.S. Virign Islands. Reseachers were living for two weeks at Hydrolab, an underwater laboratory located on the seafloor which allowed scientists to live and work underwater for extended periods of time. The researchers used oxygen tank drop sites like these to extend the length of their dive times. They were able to swap out oxygen tanks at multiple oxygen tank drop sites placed along their dive route rather than having to return to Hydrolab to swap out their oxygen tanks. At the time of the photograph, Hydrolab was located at a depth of approximately 50 feet in Salt River submarine canyon, St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands.
