Abstract

This publication is the final report of COST action 65. The main research project goals were: (i) to define karst drainage areas and their hydraulic behaviour; (ii) the development of groundwater resources and water budget in karstic areas; (iii) the optimal groundwater use in karstic areas; (iv) the definition of protection zones and regulations desirable in these zones; (vi) the exchange of experience; (v) publication of the results. The research results from each of the participating European countries are presented separately in national reports. The results from transnational working groups are also synthesised into a scientific report. Finally the guidelines and recommendations are presented.
