citation/reference: John Stewart Milne, Surgical instruments in Greek and Roman times., Color: dark greenish-brown. Slender tool has an olivary point at one end, three round bands midway down the solid cylindrical shaft and a flat, broad spatula at the other end. The spatula is chipped on two sides; the tip of the oar-shaped blade is worn away. This item may also be referred to as a spathomele. Condition: Very good.
