Abstract
The sector of Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) tourism play an integral role in the tourism industry not only because of its volume but also per capita spending. MICE tourism is predominantly characterized by its international reach and the significant number of participants it attracts. However, Covid-19 pandemic precipitated a marked, leading to far-reaching ramifications and transformations. This study is focused on evaluating the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the MICE tourism sector. It aims to explore both the anticipated and the actual shifts within the industry amidst the pandemic. Adopting a qualitative research methodology, this investigation utilized thematic content analysis as its primary tool. The research involved conducting semi-structured interviews with 30 experts who are key stakeholders in the MICE industry. The findings suggest that the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on MICE tourism into two broad categories: Internal and External effects. Internal effects encompass a range of changes, including alterations in product offerings, financial fluctuations, shifts in distribution channels, and modifications in human resource management. On the other hand, external effects include transformations in the market, alterations in operational standards and procedures, variations in public support, and broader economic impacts. Various theoretical and practical contributions are provided.
